Broderick Turner of the L.A. Times has reported that Chris Paul plans to meet with the Rockets during the free agency period. Other teams Paul plans to meet with are the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs.
"Paul also has plans to talk with the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets" , one executive said.

The idea of a backcourt with Paul and James Harden is interesting. With Harden being moved to point guard last season, he would have to go back to the shooting guard position. That could actually help the Rockets and Harden’s game. With Harden not always having the ball in his hands, he could conserve energy throughout the game and be fresher, especially at the end of games. He also has experience playing off-ball, so it would not be a difficult adjustment to make.

Paul has done enough in his NBA career to show what he brings to the table. Almost every team in the league would sign him if he had the chance. His presence on the court makes teams better and he does an excellent job of getting others involved, averaging 9.9 assists for his career. His distribution would take a load off of Harden on the offensive end. Paul shot 41.3% from the three last season, so he would fit right into the Rockets three-point arsenal.

If the Rockets want to land Paul, some moves will have to be made. The main objective is Ryan Anderson would likely have to be traded. Getting his contracts off the books would help make it possible to sign Paul, who is looking to receive a max contract. If that move is done, there is a legitimate possibility the Rockets can land Paul.

General Manager Daryl Morey recently said in an interview with Zach Lowe that the Warriors aren’t unbeatable and Houston "has something up it's sleeve". This could mean anything, but a major player acquisition certainly lines up. He's made big moves before and remains relentlessly aggressive in free agency, so this isn't out of character for Morey.
