Report: Luc Mbah a Moute to Sign With Rockets

Chris Haynes of ESPN has reported that Luc Mbah a Moute will sign a deal with the Rockets. He spent last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, usually as the starting forward.

This move feels like a steal for the Rockets. Mbah a Moute is going to sign for the veteran minimum, which is surprising. As one of the better perimeter defenders in the NBA, he easily could have gotten a bigger contract elsewhere. Mbah a Moute was a teammate of Chris Paul in Los Angeles the last few seasons. With Paul now in Houston as well, he seems to be doing his fair share of recruiting.

Mbah a Moute only averaged 6.1 PPG and 2.1 RPG last season. He also shot a career high 39.1 percent from three. While he has never been much of a scorer, he showed last season he is capable of knocking down perimeter shots when open. His presence will be seen more on the defensive end. Mbah a Moute is capable of guarding multiple positions, which is key in today’s NBA.

There seems to be a trend within the Rockets organization. This off-season, each of their acquisitions are known for their defense (Tucker, Paul, Mbah a Moute). Not only are they still adding firepower to their offense, but they're also adding players who can defend at a high level. The Rockets now have a plethora of wings that can shoot from the perimeter and defend multiple positions.

General Manager Daryl Morey has had a very good offseason.
