Fred VanVleet’s season-ending ACL injury was absolutely devastating for the Rockets. There’s no getting around that. If VanVleet had stayed healthy, Houston would’ve had an upper-echelon roster with a fair chance at toppling the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference. That sense of title contention certainty is gone now.
This begs the question: Is title contention all the way off the table?
