We now know the Houston Rockets will be selecting third overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. This means that they’re guaranteed one of Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, or Jabari Smith Jr. if they want them - all considered to be Tier 1 prospects by most analysts. “If they want them” is an important point to keep in mind here. The Rockets may consider someone else to be a worthy selection at number three. If that’s the case, it behooves them to trade down and select that player.
And that’s going to be our objective today - finding the players with the best cases to be in Tier 1. In some cases, these players have the upside of being the best player in the draft. Their lower floors in combination with question marks that may prevent them from reaching their ceilings are why they occupy this tier. So without any further ado, let’s get started
